Climbing Wall and Zip Line | Go-Karts | Campfires | Mini-Bikes
Horseback Riding | Games | Overnight Camping | Bungee Trampoline

At Camp Chinqueka, we have many activities that go beyond aquatics and sports. They offer campers a chance to do what they might not be able to do at home.

Climbing Wall and Zip Line
Easily one of the most popular activities at Chinqueka, the Climbing Wall and Zip Line are for the campers that like challenges. In order to take a ride on the zip line, campers must first scale one of the sides of the climbing wall - always supervised by several trained staff members. Additionally, campers can opt to rappel. As with all the activities at Chinqueka, safety is always the first concern - but having FUN is a close second!

Go-Karts
The Kart track at the top of the road is the place to test your driving skills - NO LICENSE REQUIRED!! All campers have the opportunity to try and beat the camp speed record around the famous hairpin turn. In addition, basic engine care and maintenance are taught in morning instruction sessions. As with all our programs, safety and fun are always our number one concerns.

Campfires
Each week, we have a campfire to bring the campers and staff together for an evening of singing, games, storytelling, and recognition of achievement. With each campfire, campers leave with a lasting memory of a few hours spent with friends from their cabin and their cabin counselors. It is a great time to sit by the fire and watch the reflection of the sunset on the lake.

Mini-Bikes
Restricted to campers 11 and older, the Mini-bikes are one of the most popular activities with our older campers. Whether it is on our trails through the woods, or on the circuit track, campers have the opportunity to race against each other. Helmets are required of all riders. Formal safety and bike maintenance lessons are built into the instruction periods.

Horseback Riding
Campers may choose to travel to a local riding stable for daily instruction or trail rides, usually 2 to 3 times per week. Riding usually takes place during the morning instruction periods and is available for an additional fee. Although you may bring your own riding gear, please, leave your horse at home!

Games
Traditional camp games, such as ping pong (table tennis) and tether ball are just some of the games that are played during free time at camp. Campers also compete in team games such as kickball, soccer, and softball throughout the summer. We also have a variety of games in Friendship Lodge that may be used on rainy days or "Cabin Days". You can even try to find your cabin counselor in the annual counselor hunt. There is always something at camp to keep you busy.

Overnight Camping
In the mood to rough it? Weekly overnight trips take the campers out into the wilderness of the Litchfield Hills. Campers set up camp at local private camping sites, normally near a river or lake, and get back in touch with nature. Enjoy an evening sleeping under the stars, roasting marshmallows over a fire and telling ghost stories. We also have additional co-ed extended camping trips, offered to the senior campers of Chinqueka and our brother camp, Awosting.

Bungee Trampoline
Flip and fly through the air on our awesome 30 foot bungee trampoline. Campers of all ages are welcome to jump till they drop. Added in 2007, it has quickly become one of our most popular activities.
